the guy who became a massive sellout, really? champion people like sal khan, who does free education on a global scale in multiple languages, in multiple subject areas and topics. who registered their educational service as a non-profit the moment it started, which works with top secular universities and has expert opinions and knowledge not the grifter trying to gatekeep art lessons, or lies to their customers saying that they cannot do what sal khan did (decades ago...) because it would cost too much (since apparently people drawing for a few years at companies known for sexual harassment allegations and misogyny are more expensive to hire than PhD's at harvard)

Proko is amazing, his positive attitude has motivated so many people, myself included

I learned to draw anatomy with those early Proko videos years ago. I instantly recognized the high quality on production and content and learning curve, there was nothing like Proko at that time on any video platform (at last not for free). Those times where awesome :) Today, when someone see my drawings and say he wants to learn, the first think i say is "if you are serious, then start by watching Proko early videos on you tube"

That's awesome, when I found Proko content was the first time where "hmmm oh that's a way to learn it correctly" cause other videos on RUclips years ago were more about shortcuts not teaching fundamentals

i was one of his first viewer, at that time i did not understand due to my lack to serious interest, then 5 years later he blew up and i picked up art seriously. I cannot thank him enough for his videos <3

Great video! I've been learning art online for around 15 years. I still remember when Proko was brand new! Seeing the original Proko website pop up on screen brought back memories haha. Artists nowadays are absolutely blessed to have someone like Stan putting out such amazing work. The content that existed before him, while wonderful, simply does not compare in complexity and production quality. His channel and website have become essential tools for learning how to draw online. I remember when I was in middle school, I used to dream of the day that I could finally afford to purchase some of his lessons. He absolutely deserves all the success that has come his way.

i learned most of my figure drawings through his videos back in 2013. Really a great and talented person

here i am complainin about 15 k in school debt lol (not from taking art but other courses) 350k mind as well be my life and that wont even cover it. i really want to learn but tutorials on youtube only get you so far without proper guidance. my anxiety makes it hard to communicate in person but i feel like id progress so much faster. even if it were online courses.

Proko is great if you already know about what he's talking (he makes good recaps). One guy that really thought me for free with hours and hours of live drawing is Prof Marc Leone and his free Drawing Database youtube channel from the University of Kentucky. Perspective, anatomy, art history, you name it, he has hour long tutorials. I recommend going through them with pencil in hand, go through those solid, solid build up of knowledge and them come to Proko for a quick reminder.

Great video, Slew! After watching Proko for some years now, it was only very recently that I caught a 5year old video of his 'beginnings' (trained at Jeff Watts studio, to one-man operation via his parents' house, to big-time professional studio with a team) to world-wide acclaim now. Yours is a wonderful interview and tour of current Proko that captures all this. Stan's is a story of vision and perseverance. Certainly he had a great mentor and teacher in Jeff Watts who saw Stan's potential. And it's all history from there. Very inspiring! And BTW, 'hats off' to you for your new art school venture. I'm sure, just like Stan P, your passion for art and art instruction will lead to ever greater success. I certainly hope so. Once again, thanks for this inspiring video on 'Proko'.

Exactly the analogy with language learning is what comes into my mind too when I think about Art (talent vs practice). Totally agree with Proko/Stan.

I have learnt pretty much EVERYTHING about draftsmanship from Proko. Been watching him for years now…so much so that he kinda feels like an old friend now. So thankful for him and his videos ❤ P.S.- The guy is aging like fine wine. ✨

I love Proko. I always recommend to my students: if you want to learn the basics, if you want to advance, if you only have so much time to watch (free!) videos about art - Proko on RUclips is it! Love you man!

It's cool to see where Proko Started, the man is a master of this era of youtube, but seeing his humble begginings really hammers it down that anyone can learn if they give it the time and effort

Man Being an artist that mostly learned through Proko's videos. I am very grateful of their existance... because where I lived there was no options for me to learn draftsman ship and representational art. His videos means alot to me and I'm glad you made a documentary about him!
